Novy Arbat (in 1963–1990 part of Kalinin Avenue) is a street in the Arbat district of Moscow. The architect Dmitry Chechulin was involved in planning the Novy Arbat thoroughfare as early as 1944. In publications from the 1950s, the name "Constitution Avenue" also appeared. As a result of the construction of Novy Arbat, Sobachiy Lane, Sobachya Ploshchadka, and Krechetnikovsky Lane disappeared from the map of Moscow.
